Picnic cushions by Lady Zaneta Gavlinne Angiolieri

"Because no self-respecting royal would picnic sitting on the bare ground", Gavlinne made cushions for the Royalty of Calontir to enjoy with their picnic baskets.

Cushion covers are made with 100% purple cotton, and hand embroidered with the device of Calontir in a satin stitch. The laurel stems are then chain stitched on and accented with felt appliquéd leaves, all of which are individually sewn down.

The cushions are 21" and are sewn shut with an invisible hem. The cushions, although in period would probably have been stuffed with animal hair or hay, in order to avoid possible allergies, I purchased pre-form hypo-allergenic pillow forms.
